New Fall 2014 Colors Have Arrived!
Mini Mochi new Fall 2014 colors
The new colors of Mini Mochi and Mochi Plus have arrived, and they are gorgeous!  We added the same three colors in both yarns:  335/635 "Bora Bora", 338/638 "English Garden" and 339/639 "Sand Painting".  We hope these new shades inspire you as much as they do us.

Coquille in Mini Mochi There are over 11,600 projects in Mini Mochi on Ravelry and over 5,600 projects in Mochi Plus.  There are also several free Mini Mochi patterns and free Mochi Plus patterns on our website, and many indie patterns as well (like Coquille pictured here, free on knitty.com).  Be sure to check out the recent Mini Mochi patterns in this issue of Purls

Nocturne DK & Aran
New Fall 2014 Colors in July
Nocturne new Fall 2014 colors
Soft and serene, Nocturne is a beautiful, subtle-striping, wool blend available in DK (2-ply) and Aran (3-ply) weights. Each of the plies is dyed separately to add a slightly tweedy effect. Nocturne is great for scarves, hats, mittens, blankets, sweaters, shawls and more.  These new shades will start arriving at yarn shops in July.

Fiber: 47/33/20% Merino Wool/Acrylic/Nylon
DK: 135 yds/50 gr., 5.25-5.75 sts=1"
Aran: 93 yds/50 gr., 4-4.5 sts=1"

We have free Nocturne patterns available, including the Diagonal Jacket in Nocturne Aran and the Crossover Vest in Nocturne DK.
FREE Knit Patterns:
Nocturne DK & Nocturne Aran

Crossover Vest in Nocturne DKWe have two new Nocturne patterns on our website, just in time for the arrival of the new Fall colors next month.

The Crossover Vest is a simple and fashionable sweater knit in Nocturne DK.  This classic kimono-style design, shown in the new 322 "Cypress" color, makes a great addition to any wardrobe.  The body is done in reverse stockinette stitch with basic armhole and neck shaping and eyelet bottom edge.  This is ultra comfortable and stylish.

Diagonal Jacket in Nocturne Aran The Diagonal Jacket, which was originally designed by Sandi Rosner in Taos, looks and feels great in Nocturne Aran. This garter-stitch cardigan can easily be worn as an outer layer for deep fall days.  It features a mitered design in garter stitch, so it is super cozy for the upcoming season. Thank you to our rep Joanne Cole for knitting up this beautiful version of the jacket.

FREE Crochet Pattern:
Skirt in Danube DK

Lacy Shell Skirt in Danube DK One of my favorite projects to crochet is the skirt.  It is fun both to work up and wear.  The Lacy Shell Skirt, made in lovely Danube DK, is a flirty crocheted skirt that looks great over a slip or leggings.  It features a firm, nice-looking waistband and comfortable shell stitch body. This is a great project for an advanced beginning crocheter ready to take their skills to the next level.  The slow-striping colors of Danube accentuate the wavy structure of the shell stitch pattern.

Danube is a luxurious (but affordable!) yarn that comes in DK, Aran and Bulky weights.  There are many beautiful colors of Danube available now, as well as five new colors coming in July.  For more Danube inspiration, see the free Danube patterns on our website.

Gold Rush in Creative Knitting

Levin Cowl in Gold Rush
The Autumn 2014 issue of Creative Knitting, due out July 8, features the Levin Cowl, designed by Kim Haesemeyer in sparkly Gold Rush.  This long, seed-stitch cowl is easy and fun to knit and wear.  You can wear it long or double it up.  The brushed wool of Gold Rush is soft and the slow-stripes make it visually appealing, while the gold metallic accents add extra bling.  This cowl takes seven balls to make.

More Indie News:
4 Shawls in Mini Mochi
Crossfire in Mini Mochi
Shawls, shawls, shawls!  We can't seem to get enough of them.  This month we added four beautiful Mini Mochi knit shawls to the Indie Patterns section of our website.  Consider one of these when thinking of your next Mini Mochi project.

The first is the stunning Crossfire Shawl done in Mini Mochi 120 "Fireworks" and a solid white.  (You could use Mini Solid 1100 "Natural").  The shawl is designed by Jennifer Dassau.  "Diagonal lines fire across this elongated, asymmetrical shawl, creating striking contrasts in angles and colors," she writes.  "Textural stripes are worked using simple knit and purl stitches, while the intersecting columns are created by slipping stitches at regular intervals; only one color is ever worked at a time."  It takes two balls of each color to make.

Festival Shawl in Mini Mochi Frankie Brown takes the slow-striping effects of Mini Mochi to new levels with her Festival Shawl. This incredible design looks especially good in the spring 2014 Mini Mochi color, 336 "Festival".  The designer says, "This shawl is a very long spiral of different size triangles. It is knitted in garter stitch and the pattern is easy to memorise."  This pattern is offered as a free download; however, if possible, Frankie requests donations to her favorite charity, the Children's Liver Disease Foundation, in lieu of payment.  The shawl takes four balls to make.

Coquille in Mini Mochi Next is the Coquille shawl in Mini Mochi.  This free (yes, free!) shawl pattern was published in the First Fall 2010 issue of Knitty.com.  We recently worked up a new version in the Fall 2014 color "English Garden", which looks fabulous.  The shawl is knit with two different sized needles to create a lacy fabric.  It features soft, wavy gussets on the edge.  The slow-striping of Mini Mochi accentuates the stitch pattern beautifully.  The pattern takes three to four balls to make.

Evening Primrose Shawl Lastly, we added the Evening Primrose Shawl by Lisa Jacobs, which was the cover pattern of Knit Now, Issue 34 . The shawl is knit in Mini Mochi color 334 "Passion Flower".  It features a central panel with a trailing leaf design on each side.  Let the magic of Mini Mochi do the striping while you focus on the stitch pattern.  Choose from over 30 Mini Mochi colors to fit your style.  It takes five balls to make.

Indie Crochet News:
Rosalie Wrap in Interweave Crochet

Rosalie Wrap in Mini Mochi
"The mysterious weave of Tunisian entrelac is punctuated with a peekaboo pattern of open spaces at the edges and center back of this elegant shawl," says Interweave of the beautiful Rosalie Shawl designed by April Garwood in Mini Mochi 327 "Georgia Peach".  This project is featured in the current Summer 2014 issue of Interweave Crochet.  The soft shade changes in the "Georgia Peach" color way add a subtle depth to the already interesting pattern and construction. Mini Mochi is such a great choice for this project.  It is soft and warm but light enough for spring and summer wraps.  The pattern takes six balls to make.
