It is March pattern madness! We have added six new free patterns online. There are also a stream of hot, indie patterns coming your way, including scarves in Mochi Plus and a shawl in Mini Mochi. There is also a stunning new sweater in the Spring/Summer issue of knit.wear magazine in Mini Mochi, showing that this yarn is not just for accessories but makes an excellent, trendy-sweater yarn as well. Aria
New Colors in Stores Soon

New Spring 2014 colors of Aria are due to arrive by the beginning of May. Add 114 "Incantata" and 115 "Marguerite" to your stash Aria is a fun, DK-weight, textured yarn which has a unique structure; it alternates between sections of printed chenille and slow-striping zig-zags. Worked alone, it is incredibly drapy. It can be also worked together for more body and additional texture effects. It would be great in jewelry knitting and crochet as well.

More Estonian Rib Projects
Estonian Rib is a wide rib that slants by increasing and decreasing. When alternating bands of color are worked into the pattern, the effect has an entrelac quality.
These Estonian Rib Boot Toppers are the bees knees! Get the knee-high look for your boots in about a third of the knitting time. Look stylish and be warm with these shortened legwarmers that fit just inside the top of your boot. The Estonian Rib pattern looks gorgeous in alternating color ways of slow-striping Mochi Plus. These make great gifts, too! The toppers can be worn as shown or folded over the boot. The designer used the new 12" S & L Circular Bamboo Knitting Needles by Crystal Palace instead of double points. The pattern takes two balls to make.
The Estonian Rib Legwarmers are equally as fantastic. The same Estonian Rib technique is used throughout the piece, creating that entrelac-look without nearly as much work. This pattern also uses two contrasting shades of Mochi Plus (shown in 307 "Storm Clouds" and 329 "Cherries Jubilee"), which adds to the optical illusion of the fabric. The pattern is sized for adults, with a child-to-teen-version coming soon. These legwarmers were also made with Crystal Palace's new 12" S & L Circular Bamboo Knitting Needles, although you could easily substitute double-points if you prefer.
Lastly is the drapy Estonian Rib Infinity Scarf. The Estonian Rib in alternating bands of Danube Aran and Merino 5 makes a great piece. The bottom edge of the infinity scarf has pointed scallops for extra interest. You can wear this long or double it up for cozy comfort.

Coiled Hat, Mitts & Cowl
This "Coiled" set originated from the Mochi Plus hat I did for our recent K/CAL on Ravelry. I loved the way the hat came out so much, that I decided to make a cowl and mitts to match. All projects are so quick; I think I finished each in under an hour.
The Coiled Hat, Coiled Mitts and Coiled Cowl are all accentuated beautifully by the gradual striping quality of Mochi Plus. The colors change by themselves. Working in the back of the stitch pushes the line of V's forward, creating horizontal "coils" that are reminiscent of vertical knitted ribbing. Each accessory takes two balls of Mochi Plus to make.

Mini Mochi, Knit.wear Spring/Summer 2014
The Spring/Summer 2014 issue of knit.wear, Interweave Press' fashion-forward, bi-annual magazine, is now available in both hard and digital copies. Knit.wear is a sophisticated magazine which focuses on, according to the publisher, "simple hand knits for the thoughtful knitter...conceptual, wearable knits with a clean, modern aesthetic-built in unusual ways and with interesting techniques." In it you will find 26 simple, seasonal projects that will inspire you, including the Funnel Collar Pullover designed by Adrienne Larsen in beautiful Mini Mochi.
I love this sweater. It features three-quarter length sleeves, stockinette-stitch body and an over-sized collar with ruched effect. The shaping is simple and flattering. Mini Mochi color 326 "Citron Mist", with its gorgeous lime, mint and aqua tones, is a beautiful choice for the garment. The projects takes 8-12 balls to make.
