Greetings from TNNA Convention in Columbus, OH!  The National Needlearts Association is holding its June convention for vendors like Crystal Palace to share the latest and greatest upcoming Fall 2013 needle craft products with shops and designers who will then bring all of this fab merchandise to you!  We have a lot of great things coming out this fall, including the subject of this month's Sneak Peek, Gold Rush.  Stay tuned to Purls for more fall sneak peeks in July and August, including another gorgeous new collection of yarn, many new colors in yarns you already know and love, and a new needle line.  Woo-hoo!

The Ashford Sample-It Loom

Weaving on the SampleIt LoomLooking for something new to do this summer or fall?  Why not weave?  The Ashford Sample-It Loom is inexpensive, compact and cute, without sacrificing function. This is a loom for new and experienced weavers. Whether you are learning to weave for the first time, want to learn new techniques or sample your wonderful yarns, this loom is fun and easy to use. Just add yarn!

Crystal Palace Aria and Sausalito are beautiful choices for this darling little loom and are featured in the recent Weaving on an Sample-It Loom video.  Use the Aria as the warp and the Sausalito for weft.  The varied texture and color of Aria and the slow-striping tweedy effect of Sausalito make beautiful scarves!  Pick up some with the loom at your local or online shops.

Check out the video to see how you can become a weaver with the Sample-It Loom!

New Free Knit Pattern:
Kathleen Dress
Kathleen Dress

The Kathleen Dress, designed by Linda Iwaszko of Mrs. I's Yarn Parlor, is a new free pattern recently added to our website.  This little dress is so cute and easy to work up.  It is sized for baby to toddler.  Using small needles with Cotton Twirl between bands of Panda Cotton produces the seersucker effect on the skirt.  The color 2927 "Calypso" in Cotton Twirl and 530 "Mango" in Panda Cotton are a sweet combination for summer.  You will have so much fun knitting this up!

Knit Weave Scarf in Sausalito
Knit Weave Scarf in Sausalito
The Knit Weave Scarf is a very cool and clever design by Joanne Cole.  It looks woven, but it is mostly knit!  The scarf is knit initially in Sausalito, with strategically-placed dropped stitches to allow for weaving in Chunky Mochi at the end.  It is cozy and drapes beautifully.  Consider adding this to your wardrobe this fall.  It takes just two balls of Sausalito and one ball of Chunky Mochi.

If you are interested in crochet, check out Joanne's free Tunisian Crochet Scarf pattern in Mochi Plus.

Sockdolager in Panda Cotton Stria

Sockdolager in Panda Cotton Stria The ultra-talented Adrienne Fong is at it again.  Her Sockdolager socks are awesome!  The gradual patterning of Panda Cotton Stria Dyed in 8102 "Ocean Waves" really shows off nicely in the pattern stitch.  Panda Cotton Stria Dyed is a cool and comfy combo of bamboo and cotton, with a little elastic nylon thrown in to give it that extra stretch.  The socks take two to three balls to make.  The pattern can be purchased through BellyButtonKnits on Ravelry.

I love Adrienne's patterns.  They are always visually stunning, interesting to make, and very wearable.  Check out more of her patterns designed in Crystal Palace Yarns, including In the Land of Oz Shawl in Mini Mochi, the Forever and a Day Scarf in Mini Mochi and the Yin Yang Scarf in Mochi Plus.

Fall Garden Shawl in Mini Mochi

Fall Garden Shawl in Mini Mochi
Hot off the hook and gorgeous as ever, the new Fall Garden Shawl, designed by Cindy Adams in Mini Mochi, is featured in the new Autumn 2013 issue of Crochet! Magazine The slow-striping nature of Mini Mochi is perfect for crochet motif patterns like this.  Get the beauty of color changes without actually changing color!  We were fortunate to be able to display this fab design in our booth at TNNA, and shops love it!  We think you will love it to.

The digital issue is available now for immediate download, with the hard copy version on its way soon.  Crochet! is an excellent resource and, in my opinion, a must for every crochet enthusiast.  Enjoy!
