Sticks of Gold
There is no reason to beat around the bush: Crystal Palace Classic Bamboo Needles and Hooks are the best bamboo on the market, both in our humble opinion and in the opinion of many objective users. Peggy Jo Wells of Brown Sheep Company only carries our needles in her retail shop because "they are the best." Ellen Graves of K2Tog in Albany, CA says Crystal Palace Classic Bamboo are "the Mercedes" of bamboo needles, and she carries no other bamboo. Craig Rosenfeld of Loop Yarn in Philadelphia, a big fan of CP Classic Bamboo, says "I love Crystal Palace Classic Bamboo needles and stock the whole line. I like the smooth, but not slippery surface, the smooth joins, and the rotating cable. The Classic Bamboo needles are well made - I have pairs I've used regularly for years - and they're priced very well."
Here is why they are the best:
- Made from slow-growing bamboo which produces a strong product
- Put through a steam autoclave process to seal in the resin that prevents the needles from warping
- Made with very smooth and stable surface - The natural resin that penetrates the needle means no lacquered top coat that could chip.
- Hand-inspected for quality control
- End with long-taper and good point
- Circulars pivot at join for easy knitting
- Crochet hooks have tapered tops which make it easier to penetrate stitches

New FREE Patterns: Knit
We have three new free patterns up on our Web site, including a girl's handbag and two stylish cowls.
The first is an adorable girl's purse made with Merino 5 and TuTu. The Ruffled Mini Bag is ultra-feminine and will make a great gift for yourself or a special someone. The construction is simple, with sewing only to fasten the fun ruffled I-cord bag strap. The bottom is worked with two strands for extra firmness. Use TuTu Lamé instead of TuTu for added holiday bling. Next is the Panda Cotton Eyelet Vine Cowl, a lightweight, lacy cowl that is super hot in the trendy "Foliage" color. I love this project and keep trying it on in the office. It has great stretch due to the elastic component in Panda Cotton. It is knitted vertically like a scarf then sewn at the seam, so you can customize the finished circumference easily. This is an excellent option for vegan knitters or for people who prefer not to wear wool near their necks.
The third new pattern is the Sausalito Eyelet Vine Cowl. It features the same gorgeous lace as the Panda Cotton cowl, but this time it is knit horizontally in the round. The sample is done in the new Fall 2012 color, 8455 "Coreopsis," a beautiful choice for this cozy yet elegant accessory. Oh yeah, and it only takes one (yes one!) ball of Sausalito to make!

Indie Knitting News: Mini Solid in Jane Austen Knits
The Fall 2012 issue of Jane Austen Knits is now available! This special publication by Interweave Press captures the spirit and elegance of author Jane Austen and the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It feels more like a book than a magazine, with timeless pieces which can be visited and knit again and again.
Crystal Palace Yarns is featured in one of the 30 gorgeous designs. The Betwixt and Between gloves by Moira Engel are made out of Crystal Palace Mini Solid. The pattern features a beautiful eyelet design finished off sweetly with side buttons. The yarn softens the stitch work for a feminine look and feel. These would be excellent for Christmas gloves in the sample color, #1101 "Intense Red."
You can purchase the magazine at your local shop or at the Interweave Store.

This vest pattern offers five finished sizes in five different stitch gauges, which really gives the you bang for their buck. The vest is done in Stockinette stitch with seed stitch edging. It is made in one piece without side seams, so the only sewing needed is at the shoulders.
