New FREE Patterns: Knit
There are three brand-spankin' new patterns up on our Web site!
First is the cute and fun Flouncy Ruffled Girl's Skirt that I designed in Merino 5 and TuTu Lamé. TuTu and TuTu Lamé are fantastic choices for ruffled skirts. This skirt is worked in the round in garter stitch to produce springiness and great wearability. It takes two balls of each yarn and is sized 4-6 years. Next is the Cabled Child's Hat in Chunky Mochi by Laura Andersson. This is a soft and warm accessory for fall and winter, and Chunky Mochi is the perfect yarn for the job. The scrumptious, 23 slow-striping color choices will even make youngsters want to wear it! It features cables and left twists, with rolled St st edge. It takes only two balls to make. Make several of these for great, quick gifts!
Lastly is the gorgeous Mitered Squares Stole by Gail Tanquary. We love this stole (and a few of us have been caught wearing it around the office)! This pattern uses the slow-stripes of Mochi Plus to create a visually captivating wrap. This stole is featured in the new CPY video, "Knitting a Mitered Square in Mochi Plus," now up on YouTube. A scarf option is offered in the pattern as well. You could also use this technique for an accent throw or full blanket.

Indie Knitting News: Love of Knitting, Holiday 2012 & Sock Yarn Studio by Carol J. Sulcoski
It is never too early to start thinking of the winter holidays. The holiday issue of the Love of Knitting is now available in both digital and hard copies. This special issue features three gorgeous earlap hats designed by Lisa Ellis. The Warm and Wooly Thrummed Hats are knitted in Mochi Plus, with wool "thrummed" lining for extra toastiness. This pattern is sized for toddler, child and adult. The technique is fun and the result is comfy and cute. With over 30 color ways from which to choose, these hats will make superb gifts. Add this issue to your magazine collection.
Another exciting knitting indie out this month is the Thornapple Wristwarmer* pattern in the new book by Lark Crafts, Sock Yarn Studio* by Carol J. Sulcoski. The wristwarmers, designed by Elizabeth Morrison, are gorgeous and reminiscent of times past. The clever combination of Mini Solid and a darling entrelac center panel of Sausalito make these gloves unique and inspiring. This project is one of 26 beautiful patterns. Consider adding this to your book collection this fall.
