Giggleswick v Tourists
Our Rugby, Hockey and Netball teams had three good wins over Australian touring sides from Calrossy Anglican School, Tamworth, NSW. Calrossy was one of the schools visited by Giggleswick on the 2012 Quincentenary Tour to Australia and we were delighted to be able to return the great hospitality they showed to us. Thanks go to families who had the touring pupils to stay in their homes.
Results were as follows: Rugby won 22 - 19, Hockey won 5 - 1 and Netball won 19 -11. Click here for full report.

English Schools' Fell
Running Championships
Star of the day was Euan Brennan in the Year 8 & 9 race, who came flying down the last hill of the two mile course to finish 5th overall and first Year 8 boy across the line. With support from Tom Humphries and Niven Smith, the team managed to finish third in the country, our best ever team result in this event.
In their first outings for Team Giggleswick, Connie Rockliffe-King made Sean Bargh work hard for the honour of being the first Giggleswickian home in the Year 7 race, with team support coming from James and Harry Snowden.
Not everyone made it to the finish in one piece as various ankles, still a bit weak from too much summer holidaying, fell prey to the uneven surface. Honourable mentions also go to Eve Hutchinson, Marie Lothian, Charles Smith and Emily Shaw who all made it to the start line but in many cases were afflicted by mishaps on the route and finished further down the fields than they might have expected, and Maddy Rockliffe-King who made the St John's Ambulance team test the off-road capabilities of their shiny Land Rover!

Chapel Choir Sing Evensong at Blackburn
50 singers headed to Blackburn Cathedral to sing the service of Evensong. With Jason Lowe on the organ and Tricia Rees-Jones conducting, they sang magnificently to a small but very appreciative congregation. The evensong service is packed with music; not just an anthem and a hymn but more unfamiliar musical territory such as Anglican chanted psalm, Versicles and Responses (with fine solo intonations from Isaac Hamilton-Wheatley) and settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, territory they navigated with aplomb.

The choir enjoyed the generous acoustic of the cathedral, the revolving star of the cymbelstern stop on the organ and the well-deserved visit to McDonalds on the way home! Thanks to parents, friends and staff for their support, especially Miss Williamson and Mr Ladds for travelling to Blackburn to support us.

From the Chaplain
What would you be prepared to risk for something you feel strongly about?
The Chapel hero this week is Esther; Esther risked her own life to stand up for her beliefs and her people and she succeeded. Jesus said "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends".
We gave give of ourselves in many ways, this Sunday the school will be holding its annual Harvest celebration. All of your generous gifts are shared with the local community and with Keighley Women's Aid and nothing goes to waste. Supporting the charities chosen by the students charity committee is just one of the ways we can all lay down just a little of our own lives to help others. Yours in Christ
