Eat Your Greens campaign kicks off in York!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away?

Family First Health's annual Eat Your Greens campaign kicks off this month, encouraging patients to make fruits and veggies part of the discussion with their doctors and dentists.

Studies have shown that cost efficiencies in health care coverage can be attained by proactive health habits, such as a well-balanced diet and high intake of fruits and vegetables. A major study by National Institutes of Health showed a 58 percent reduction in new cases of diabetes over five years by partaking in a modest lifestyle and diet intervention with a 5 percent weight loss.

The month-long campaign launches Saturday, March 15 at Central Market York with kids' activities to coincide with the York Saint Patrick's Day Parade. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids (and adults!) can enjoy a healthy snack, complete a coloring page and pose in our photo booth with our signature tomato and carrot.

Family First Health will also be hosting a pop-up picnic at the White Rose Senior Center this month to share healthy eating tips and focus on preventative health care.
