Times may have changed, but music is still a large part of what makes a home, and that's why Richard Carter's story has meant so much to me. ...Read More.

This HEARTH brief describes how philanthropy can be instrumental in supporting the development of additional permanent supportive housing units and creating the systems by which this housing is targeted to persons with the highest needs, such as those who are most vulnerable, frequent users of emergency health care systems or frequently incarcerated.

The purpose of this paper, published by The Homeless Hub of Canada, is to provide a summary of research on interventions that aim to end or reduce homelessness. Researchers' goals were to gain an understanding of the different populations for whom interventions have been tested and the type of interventions evaluated, as well as to create an inventory of the indicators used to assess the effectiveness of interventions.

In this report, Family Matters, also published by The Homeless Hub, programming is examined to evaluate how reconnecting with family may help some young people avoid long term homelessness. In doing this review, the authors raise some important questions about the Canadian response to youth homelessness. They argue for a rather radical transformation of this response, one that reconsiders the role of strengthened family (and community) relations in preventing and responding to youth homelessness. Learn more...
