Announcing the Launch of Our Networking Series!

Since 2010, we have hosted more than two dozen successful networking events for hundreds of funders in 18 states across the United States. In light of the partnership, collaboration, and replication of best practices resulting from these events, we are formalizing this series as a service we provide to Members of Funders Together and invited guests.

The Funders Together Networking Series is designed to connect funders who are working to improve the lives of vulnerable people throughout the United States. Our networking events provide you with the opportunity to develop strategic relationships, exchange valuable information, and highlight your work. We host and facilitate breakfasts, lunches, and evening receptions in conjunction with major conferences on philanthropy and homelessness, as well as by request. If you are interested in co-hosting or sponsoring a networking event, please contact Allison Silva by telephone or email.

Check out our Events Calendar to see what's coming up in the series.

Stay tuned for more special announcements regarding services that Funders Together is launching to help you maximize the impact of your work.

Bobbie Ibarra blogs: Criminalizing Poverty

From the early 1800's to the early 1900's, people throughout United States who could not afford a home we there confined to "poorhouses" or "workhouses," for the "crime" of being poor, and were required to remain there, performing hard labor under harsh conditions until they died or were discharged. Most of us look back on those days in disbelief, but today, communities all over the country are passing ordinances...Read More!

We're thrilled to congratulate

Funders Together Houston on their one-year anniversary. "What FT Houston has accomplished in their first year is amazing," Anne Miskey, Executive Director of FTEH shared. "I had the pleasure of visiting them on their first anniversary and seeing catalytic philanthropy in action. The funders in that community have come together to work with one another and with government, providers and national partners to build a system for ending homelessness in Houston." More pictures, reflections, and more to come in next month's bulletin! Check out Funders Together Houston's latest Newsletter!

Homes for All: The Miami Coalition for the Homeless Receives Grant from Wells Fargo Foundation

has been awarded a grant by the Wells Fargo Foundation to plan and further develop its Miami Homes For All initiative via collaborative resources. Modeled on best practices from Boston and Los Angeles, Miami Homes For All aims to enlist private and public funders to incentivize development of housing for households with extremely-low income, so as to address Miami-Dade County's severe shortage of housing that is affordable to these households.

Miami Homes For All will also assist MCH in identifying multifamily properties that are in need of rehabilitation and vacant land suitable for development in those neighborhoods, with the ultimate goal of increasing their stock of affordable rental housing for ELI households. The grant will also allow MCH to help prevent homelessness through outreach and counseling in Miami's lower income neighborhoods of Liberty City, Wynwood and Buena Vista.

The Boston Foundation awards $225,000 to

Boston's Pine Street Inn

This January, The Boston Foundation awarded $225,000 to the

Pine Street Inn in Boston, Massachusetts, with the emphasis being to shift from a focus on emergency shelter to the long-term solution of permanent supportive housing. More news to follow in a February Blog Post! For now, read more from Pine Street's Stories of Hope Series!
