CSID Democracy and Civic Education Programs
Dear Friends and Colleagues: We are pleased to present to you our latest publication which summarizes the CSID Democracy and Civic Education Programs, organized in Tunisia during the past two years (2012 and 2013). Since 2005-2006, CSID began working on a training manual which would explain the complex theories of Islam and democracy in terms that average citizens would understand and be able to put into practice. These citizenship education workshops entitled the " Islam and Democracy: Towards an Effective Citizenship" target Tunisians of all backgrounds.
The main goal of these 3-day workshops is to merge the principles and teachings of Islam with the foundations and rules of democracy through a horizontal and easy to use pedagogical model. The training manual was drafted in coordination with the Street Law Inc., an American NGO, which has been working for more than 35 years in developing educational curricula to promote the values of human rights and democracy all over the world. We hope you find this report informative and useful. Download the report here.
