Moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas - if you have a child in your life, bring them to the 5th annual Children's Art & Literacy Festival this month! Registration is open for the festival, which will take place June 9-11 throughout downtown and involves many of our arts groups. They have so many creative and fun things cooked up, from Bird Thomas' glow in the dark dragon cavern at the Center for Contemporary Arts to Dan McGregor's lifesize treehouse at the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature. Come meet illustrator/author Mark Teague, see his artwork at the NCCIL and buy some books. All events Thursday night are free. Don't miss the Storybook Parade, Sculpture Unveiling, Artist Talk, and new this year - a Glow Dance Party at the Abilene Civic Center. Come climb on the "Good Night Dinosaur" sculpture - 8 feet tall bronze - and grab some food and start dancing. This is the childhood adventure you expect in the Storybook Capital of Texas!
