From the Desk Of:
Navy Capt. Roland Fahie, Director, ASBPO
Greetings! Welcome to the February edition of Focal Point. Please join us as we celebrate Black History Month and National Donor Day and honor the many donors, supporters, staff members and volunteers who help us achieve our mission of saving lives.
In this issue, we take an inside look at the 2016 West Point blood drive, check in with Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and see how the Fort Bliss Blood Donor Center thanked their donors and supporters during National Blood Donor Month.
2016 is off to a great start, and we have you -- our donors, volunteers, supporters and staff members -- to thank for it. Let's be sure to keep up the great work. Together, we can make this year the best year yet for the military blood program.
Lastly, I encourage you to let us know what you are doing. Share your stories with us; tell us what is going on in your neighborhood. We love to hear from our supporters. After all, you are the Armed Services Blood Program!
Respectfully,
Capt. Roland Fahie |

Checkin' in with the:
Armed Services Blood Program at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
A new year typically means new resolutions for many people. However, for Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif., the attitude is always the same when it comes to saving lives - they do not walk, they run when their brothers and sisters are in need. Throughout the year, Marines from the Infantry Training Battalions and Marine Combat Training Battalions always show their support to the ASBP by giving their students the opportunity to donate blood. Industry News
W ith our global mission, the safety and security of the military blood supply, and in coordination with U.S. blood and blood product licensing and regulatory agencies, an official policy has been developed. The Zika virus policy has been implemented by the Services, and because Zika is still evolving, there will likely be further changes to the policy.
