News from the Armed Services Blood Program
Issue No. 86  |  Aug. 31, 2015

From the Desk Of:
Navy Capt. Roland Fahie, Director, ASBPO

Navy Capt. Roland Fahie, ASBP director
Greetings! Welcome to the August edition of Focal Point. In this issue, you can read up on our freeze-dried plasma initiative. Plasma is often the unsung hero in the blood banking world; however, this blood product will help us save lives of injured service members on battlefields worldwide.

Also in this issue, it is my pleasure to introduce Army Lt. Col. Carmen Bell and officially welcome her to the Armed Services Blood Program team. She has more than 20 years of military experience, and is already well on her way to leaving a lasting impact on the way we collect, test, distribute and transfuse blood.

With the summer months winding down, I am proud to report that we have continued to meet all blood and blood product needs. My thanks to our donors, volunteers and supporters. Because of you, the Armed Services Blood Program has been able to provide blood and blood products to ill or injured service members, veterans and their families worldwide -- without interruption.

Let's keep up the great work!

You are the Armed Services Blood Program!

Respectfully,
Capt. Roland Fahie

Simulation Studies Reveal the Role Disulfide Bonds Play in Protein Folding
