News from the Armed Services Blood Program
Issue No. 84  |  June 23, 2015

From the Desk Of:
Navy Capt. Roland Fahie, Director, ASBPO

Navy Capt. Roland Fahie, ASBP directorGreetings! Welcome to the June edition of Focal Point. Summer is finally in full swing. It is not uncommon for donations to slow down this time of year as many of the military blood program's eligible donors are on vacation. Although donors are receiving their well-deserved summer time off, the need for blood donations is ongoing.

The Armed Services Blood Program is encouraging everyone who is able to stop by your local blood donor center, roll up your sleeve and help us save lives. All blood types are needed, and in most locations, walk-in donors are welcome.

This month, we will add an additional nine military blood bankers to our community from the Blood Bank Fellowship located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. I am proud of all these officers who have sacrificed and forgone many family activities in order to complete this rigorous and prestigious program so that they can better serve our warfighters and their family.

Join us this summer, and help us save lives. We have plenty of opportunities waiting for you. Donors are the lifeline of the military blood program. Your support allows us to continually provide blood and blood products to ill or injured service members, veterans and their families wherever and whenever it's needed.

You are the Armed Services Blood Program!

Respectfully,

Capt. Roland Fahie
