From the Desk Of:
Col. Richard H. McBride, Director, ASBPO
I am pleased to say that this issue of Focal Point heralds the coming of spring and with it good news for the program. The ASBP took top honors for both our website and this eNewsletter in the Army Medical Command level Keith L. Ware Public Affairs Competition. And we recently launched a new Frequently Asked Questions page to help answer some of the most common questions we receive. In this issue, you'll meet a retired Air Force master sergeant who provides "life support" to include donating regularly to the ASBP, and you'll read about how the 379th Blood Support Detachment is preparing for their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. Finally, be sure to check in with the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to learn about how the Aberdeen Proving Ground stepped up to save lives. 2014 continues to be an amazing success for the military blood program and we have you -- the donors, volunteers and supporters of our program -- to thank for it. Let's keep up the good work! Thanks, Col. Richard H. McBride |
