News from the Armed Services Blood Program
Issue No. 63
Sept. 10, 2013
From the Desk Of:
Col. Richard H. McBride, Director, ASBPO

Air Force Col. Richard H. McBride, director of the Armed Services Blood ProgramThis month, we celebrate International Donor Recruitment Professionals Day Sept. 18, and we introduce you to a few of our blood donor recruiters who are work every day to help us save lives. In this issue, you'll also meet two special donors -- one who is a first-time donor, and one who has been donating for 31 years -- who help save lives.

We also check in with the Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center to see how they fared on their recent FDA inspection, and we share current blood banking information in our Industry News section.

I would like to thank everyone for making our summer campaign -- Join the Arms Race; Donate Blood -- a huge success. Whether you donated, volunteered or simply spread the word with your friends and family, you ensured that service members worldwide continued to receive the blood they needed when they needed it the most. Our 2013 summer campaign ends Sept. 30.

Summer might be coming to a close, but we've still got a lot of 2013 left! Join us this upcoming holiday season and help us do what we do best -- save lives!

Thanks,
Col. Richard H. McBride
