United Way believes addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) plays an important role in creating a healthier future for our children and families.

On March 25th, United Way along with several community partners will hold a forum on ACEs.

Join us to learn more about the ACEs research, what ACEs look like in our community and how we can help move forward.

Speakers 
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Robert Anda, co-investigator of the Adverse Childhood Experience study and medical scientific consultant to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will present his research findings on what ACEs are and how they contribute to poor health in adulthood.

 
 
Laura Porter, founder and staff director of the Washington State Family Policy Council, will present on how we can address and help with improvements in our own community. Definition

ACEs are defined as incidences during childhood that harm social, cognitive and emotional functioning. A decade long study involving 17,000 people examined health and social effects of adverse childhood experiences throughout the lifespan and found 10 common traumas associated with poor social and health outcomes in children and adults.
