Greetings!

Every year, community organizations have needs for volunteers and other donations during the holiday season.

To connect these organizations with the community, United Way of East Central Iowa publishes a Holiday Volunteer and Giving Guide.

In the 2012 guide, individuals, families and coworkers will find opportunities that involve adopting a family, driving elderly or preparing food boxes for those in need. Remember, most agencies need assistance prior to the holiday, not the day of.

Click here to browse the guide.

More opportunities

Pick up and delivery help
Do you have a sense of adventure and a passion for helping others in need? Then why not volunteer as a driver for the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter. Drivers are on-call and needed to run errands for the shelter and sometimes assist clients with emergency or one-time errands. Read more/sign up here.

Smartphone savy teachers wanted
Do you ever feel like all the hours you spend on your smartphone are eroding your brain? Well, it may not be! You could put your smartphone wielding skills to good use by volunteering with the Witwer Center. They need volunteers to help teach seniors how to use smartphones. You can read more/sign up here.

Lunch buddies needed
School-based Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors meet with a student once a week or every other week at school. Click here for more.

Join our team: Become a tax volunteer

There is a current need for volunteers who are interested in helping others during the 2013 tax season.

Through this program, you can become IRS certified at no cost, build your resume, and benefit our community by helping others get the tax credits they are entitled to.
