Successfully pricing products and services for the government marketplace requires adapting strategies and tactics to address the dynamic market rules, regulations and requirements. • You will be able to identify government perspective regarding pricing objectives.

SBA Rule Change Coincides With ChallengeHER InitiativeBusiness Monthly

The Business Monthly

A decade of relentless work and dogged determination of small business advocates has paid off for more than 1 million businesswomen nationwide. An interim final rule was recently published in the Federal Register that immediately removes caps on the size of contracts that can be awarded competitively to women-owned small businesses (WOSB).

Previously, the federal government could award contracts for any dollar amount to all types of qualified small businesses, such as service-disabled veteran-owned, minority-owned, or those located in economically distressed areas - and none had a cap or limit on the size of contract, except for WOSBs.

Prior to the rule change, the anticipated award price of the contract for women-owned small businesses could not exceed $6.5 million for manufacturing contracts and $4 million for all other contracts.

As a result of the SBA rule change, this arbitrary limit has been totally removed and contracting officers will now be able to set aside competitive contracts for certified WOSBs at any dollar level, which will also then help federal agencies achieve the existing statutory goal of 5% of federal contracting dollars being awarded to WOSBs.
