Greetings!
Turn your clocks back an hour this weekend-while we lose an hour of sleep, we gain an hour of sunlight in the evening. Prepare yourself for the lost hour, but I hope you balance it out by enjoying more sunshine, I know I will.
All of the political turmoil is affecting every business, but take heart-the economy is improving and we too will weather this storm of uncertainty.
How? Plan for success, plan for alternative efforts, plan and then most importantly: execute that plan. Refuse to buy into the doom and gloom from the talking heads and make your company and job the exception to the rule. Increase your productivity, increase your production, improve your client relations and work your realtionships and teaming base.
The art of marketing and sales is a critical element of success in this market, and very few people understand exactly what that means. Attend the March 13 class (see below) for insight from instructors who have helped clients win billions in federal contracts. Attend the March 20 class for GSA schedule strategies and tactics to make a difference and look for the April/May classes to help you get to that next level-in the new federal marketplace!
We have some great events noted below for you. If you have not been networking enough, it is time to refresh your relationships! Come out, say hello to me, I will be happy to introduce you around to people you need to know.
Here's to your success!

Market Viability and the Eye-Opening Cost of Market Entry
By: Gloria Larkin
There is no dispute with the statement that the U.S. federal government is the world's Fortune one customer, spending more than any other single entity purchasing goods and services.
However, we have seen budgets eroding and spending decreases, which leads to the next question: Is this still a viable market?
A quick snapshot from USASpending.gov tells us that in fiscal year 2012, spending with contractors of all sizes totaled $514 billion, down from $537 billion the year before.
Even under a worst-case scenario of possibly taking the full hit from sequestration in March (just under a 10% cut across all agencies, including the Department of Defense), the federal government still will remain the biggest consumer of services and products in the world, and a solid market for those who are willing to do what it takes to enter the market, pursue and win business.

Perfect Storm: Sequestration Meets Snowmageddon
Sequestration, debt ceilings and continuing resolutions, (and March Blizzards) oh my! Government contractors are starting to feel like Dorothy in the enchanted forest. Hopefully, contractors will find their way home just as Dorothy did. But unlike Dorothy, who relied primarily on serendipity, contractors will need to be prepared. The unfortunate combination of sequestration, debt ceilings and lapsing continuing resolutions (not to mention a March blizzard!) will challenge government contractors in unprecedented ways. Even without the blizzard, this phenomena has been dubbed The Perfect Storm. Some contractors may be lucky enough to avoid any consequences but the vast majority will not be so fortunate. The key to minimizing the negative effects of the Perfect Storm is to be prepared. Towards that end, Aronson has prepared a Perfect Storm "whitepaper." The whitepaper describes the sequestration, debt ceiling and continuing resolution issues, notes a variety of problems that will most likely be encountered by contractors and offers practical tips for how to prepare and if necessary react.
