Greetings!
Does it feel as if you are well into 2013 already (instead of just two weeks), trying to keep up with ...everything?! The challenges we face offer a wide range of solutions, some that energize us and others that drain us. Serious situations may cause us to agonize over the resolutions - especially if we dwell on the "what ifs" too long.
But once that tough decision is made, don't you find that your focus is better, your energy renewed and the path towards moving ahead towards your goals much clearer? If you are in the middle of this kind of challenge, just let me offer this: keep on putting one foot in front of the other-even if those steps are small, they are still moving forward and you can give yourself some valuable energy-rebuilding time.
Yes, I have been through this walk myself, and coming out on the other side of the challenge is incredibly rewarding and energizing. Thanks to a great team, (and a growing team!) a wonderful understanding husband and caring colleagues.
Speaking of growing-we are looking for the next TargetGov teammates-an administrative assistant and a research analyst. If you or someone you know may be interested, please send them our way.
The Government Contracting Institute is moving forward in full swing-with classes in January, February, March and all the way through July. Now is the time to refresh your focus, update your strategies and tactics, set the plan into action-count on us to help with these classes. Each class is a full day, advanced level, with expert instructors. Powerful information, for those who are committed to succeed in 2013.
Let me know how you are doing-and of course, if we can help you plan for success in 2013-reach out,email or call 866-579-1346. We are here to help!
Here's to your success!

Now What? Success in 2013 Demands New Attitude
By: Gloria Larkin
Published by: The Business Monthly
While a gaze into this year's crystal ball does hold a few surprises, for the most part the theme in federal contracting is a solid "do more with less." The challenges not only involve the obvious budget-trimming "do more with less money," but the even more critical theme, "do more with fewer people."
Deltek, a federal data research and services firm, predicts that more than 23% of federal contracting and acquisition-related government employees will retire during the next 18-24 months, and a full 50% in the next five years. This critically affects businesses doing work for the federal government (including military bases and intelligence agencies), because ....

Capability Statements: The View from Both Sides of the Table - Evaluating and Creating Capability Statements
The National Contract Management Association is presenting a fast-paced webinar about Capability Statements.
Capability Statements are now required documents in the federal marketplace and serve a number of purposes. However, very few contractors know how to create an effective document and government personnel are subsequently buried by generic capability statements, making it very difficult to quickly evaluate and select those that fit specific needs.
Who should attend:
- Government personnel: contracting and acquisition, small business, and program managers;
- Contractors: business development, project managers, capture managers, and sales and support staff
Participants will learn about:
- The five key elements required for effective marketing capability statement;
- The exact content and format of past performance;
- Differentiator and core competencies sections;
- Company data elements to include and prioritizing the content to meet the page limit; and,
- Grading system that allows government personnel to quickly review and evaluate the vendors capability statement relating to specific projects.
Join presenter Gloria Larkin for an informative webinar and prepare your business for success.
Seminar Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2013 Start Time: 12:00 PM EST Registration fee: $189.00

Are You Getting Enough Sleep?
National Institute of Health Published By: The Government ExecutiveHave trouble sleeping? If so, you're not alone. At least 40 million Americans suffer from chronic, long-term sleep disorders, and another 20 million have occasional problems. Many more (including the author) just don't seem to find enough hours in the day and night to get adequate sleep. Lack of sleep has been linked to a variety of health conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression. Sleep deprivation can also affect alertness and reflexes. And that can be lethal-tired drivers cause an estimated 100,000 motor vehicle accidents and 1,500 vehicle-related deaths each year.
