Dear Friends of Whole Grains,

For Whole Grains Month, we are celebrating where we #spotwholegrains around town, by hosting an Instagram contest, and we need your help!

Have you seen whole grains at a restaurant? In a ballpark? At the airport?  Follow @Oldways_pt on Instagram and use the hashtag #spotwholegrains when you post photos of where you find whole grains away from home. Participants have a chance to win $100 gift cards to various restaurants & delicious new cookbooks. Learn more here.

MEET CAROLINE, OUR NEW WGC STAMP PROGRAM MANAGER

A graduate of the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and an 8-year veteran of Whole Foods Market, Caroline is an exciting new addition to our team! To learn more about Caroline, and how to make one of her favorite whole grain recipes, check out her welcome blog post.
FRUITS, VEGETABLES, LEGUMES, WHOLE GRAINS LINKED WITH LESS PRE-DIABETES

In a study of 300 adults, researchers found that people who eat lots of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, low fat dairy, and fish were significantly less likely to be pre-diabetic than those who eat lots of desserts, red meat, fried potatoes, mayonnaise, and solid fats. Learn more about the study here.
ENTHUSIASM FOR GLUTEN-FREE DIETS IS OVER-HYPED

Lots of people without celiac disease talk about gluten-free diets and say they're following one (not that they have any medical reason to do so), but when you actually examine what they eat, the number of gluten-free devotees without celiac disease is pretty small (less than 1%). Learn more here.
