Dear Friends of Whole Grains,

The much awaited 2015 Dietary Guidelines carried forth the recommendation to make at least half your grains whole. Given that 2 out of 3 people make at least half their grains whole, we were hopeful that the Dietary Guidelines would up the ante this time around.

That said, we are pleased that the Dietary Guidelines indicated support for the Whole Grain Stamp. According to the new Guidelines, product labels that show the grams of whole grain in the product (such as the Whole Grain Stamp), "may help people identify food choices that have a substantial amount of whole grains."

At Oldways, we are all about translating nutrition guidelines into practical tools (like the Stamp) That's why we're thrilled to debut the Oldways Cart, a visual that illustrates a week's worth of groceries for two adults. An accompanying shopping list and meal plan detail how this sample cartful of foods can be mixed and matched to make up a healthy diet (which features a variety of healthy whole grains). To learn more about the Oldways Cart, see this webpage.
