What is Alexander Technique?

Alexander Technique is commonly offered as part of the curriculum at the world's most esteemed music schools and is also popular among actors, dancers, athletes, and public speakers. Alexander Technique is unique because it's not a treatment or exercise program, but a hands-on educational process.

CLASSES & LESSONS
What We Offer

A fun hands-on educational process that shows ways to change habits that inhibit fluid movement and produce tension or pain in your body when you make music. Benefits include greater body awareness, calmer breathing and more freedom to sing or play. Instructor is a Certified Alexander teacher, Licensed Physical Therapist, and musician. Please bring exercise mat. One session is with your instrument; piano provided. Minimum age 18. 4 sessions. $120 plus $13 registration fee. At Glen Echo Park.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Diana Rumrill
Diana is a Licensed Physical Therapist, Alexander teacher, and musician in the Washington, D.C. area. She has 15 years of experience with clients in every stage of recovery from hospital to outpatient clinics. She earned a Master's of Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut and is a graduate of the Philadelphia School for the Alexander Technique. An ardent musician, she studied voice and music education at the University of Hartford and continued her music study in violin and composition. She specializes in musicians' topics, pelvic and spinal muscle energy, hand therapy, postural restoration and spinal stabilization.
