You and I have read the reports about the importance of music - how learning an instrument improves learning skills in children, how listening to music assists those struggling with Alzheimer's, and how making music together fulfills an array of social and emotional needs.
But music is more than reports and statistics. We see music on the face of the child after she takes her first lesson or performs on his first recital. We hear music from the instrument of the student who discovers communication through sound. We feel music during a live performance by a great artist. We know music from all aspects of our lives.
Over two thousand years ago, Confucius wrote: "Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without." That statement is no less true today!
In order for the Washington Conservatory to offer musical learning and listening opportunities, we must ask for help from those who know the value of music, and who appreciate the music the Washington Conservatory brings to people of all ages - children, teens, and adults.
If you have attended a WCM event at Glen Echo Park; if you or your child have benefited from music lessons or classes; if you have been part of the Washington Conservatory orchestra for amateur adult musicians; or if you've enjoyed the Piano Plus! concerts, a QuinTango open rehearsal, master classes, or some of the more than 300 public events produced by the Washington Conservatory in the last two decades - if you value what WCM brings to our community, we ask for your support today.
The Washington Conservatory of Music is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Your gift is tax-deductible, very much appreciated, and will be well-used to support the learning, listening and loving of music!
Musically Yours,
Ndenisarya Bregasi
