Premiere Concert
DEKA Piano Trio
Saturday, December 5, 8 pm
The Washington Conservatory of Music is proud to present the premiere concert of DEKA Piano Trio.
The DEKA Piano Trio is comprised of outstanding faculty members of the Washington Conservatory. Violinist Ko Sugiyama is Associate Concertmaster of the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra and has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the New World Symphony and the Cleveland Pops. Cellist Danielle Cho was featured soloist at the 2014 TedxFulbright Conference and toured internationally under Lorin Maazel with the Palau de Les Arts Orchestra of Valencia, Spain. Pianist Edvinas Minkstimas is winner of nine international piano competitions and performs internationally having recently returned from a seven-day, seven-city concert tour of Poland.
Upcoming performances by the DEKA Piano Trio include a February 2016 concert at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
Derived from the the first letters of each member's first name, DEKA is also believed to be a name of Somali origin that means "one who pleases" in African, besides being "ten" in Greek, a subtle reference to a musician's ten fingers.
