This Saturday is a "what's right with the world" day!

At 3 pm The Washington Conservatory Orchestra - amateur adults who meet weekly to make music, under the direction of A. Scott Wood - will give a free family-friendly concert. At 7 pm, six students chosen by audition, age 17 and younger, will perform a special "Honors" recital. Please join us to experience first-hand, some of the joys of a community music school! (See details below.)

Conducted by Scott Wood, the Washington Conservatory Orchestra offers amateur adult musicians of all levels an opportunity to learn both traditional and unusual orchestral literature with like-minded players in a friendly professional atmosphere. Performances are the highlight of each preparation period.

The family-friendly program features two movements from Haydn's "Clock" symphony (No. 101), featuring the "tick-tock" theme that gives this work its nickname; Gershwin's jazz-influenced "Lullaby"; a suite of "Rosenkavalier" waltzes by Richard Strauss; and Johann Strauss Jr's "Artist-Quadrille", which weaves together snippets of well-known classical and popular works of the time in humorous fashion.
