Happy holidays! I hope you'll take the time to join me in giving special thanks to the Washington Conservatory of Music (WCM) this holiday season for enriching our lives with music. I am currently a WCM board member and also the proud parent of two piano students, Bella and Katie, with a third daughter going to start piano lessons this summer.
Our family's history with the Washington Conservatory began when I enrolled in flute lessons. I was thrilled to find this nationally accredited music school with an extraordinary international faculty in the greater DC area. After a few years, I gave my husband the gift of trumpet lessons for his birthday. Resuming classical trumpet lessons and branching out into jazz improvisation has rekindled Jonathan's passion for music. Bella and Katie's journey began with Early Childhood Music classes before starting piano. Now we love hearing our daughters' musical progress at student recitals when they perform on the Conservatory's Blüthner concert grand piano!
Jonathan and I are inspired by the world-class performances of Conservatory faculty and guest artists at the free WCM professional concert series on Westmoreland Circle, attended by over 25,000 people in the past 10 years. I also have my eye on the Irish tin whistle classes offered at the WCM Glen Echo Park site where you can learn music taught in the aural tradition, like folk guitar and Irish flute, fiddle, tenor banjo, bodhran and bouzouki.
Please consider the ways your life has been enriched through the Washington Conservatory of Music. Whether you, your children, or someone you know take music lessons, participate in the Washington Conservatory's Community Orchestra, or take advantage of the Conservatory's extraordinary series of concerts and master classes-we all have many reasons to be grateful for the Conservatory's place in our lives.
Please join me in making a year-end tax deductible contribution to the Washington Conservatory of Music, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Your contribution will help to support much-needed facility improvements, provide scholarships, purchase instruments, underwrite free concerts, support the free community orchestra, and expand creative programming of concerts and classes for music enthusiasts of all ages.
