A winner of the 2006 "French Grammy," Les Victoires de la Musique Classique, Paley concertizes extensively and continuously throughout Eastern and Western Europe, and performs as well in Asia and South America.

By popular demand, Paley returns to the Washington Conservatory for his eleventh concert season. Paley's 2011 Washington Conservatory concert -- an all-Liszt recital -- was recorded and heard on WETA's "Front Row Washington."

Mr. Paley is widely recognized for his exceptionally broad and extensive repertoire of concerti and solo piano works, his dazzling technical prowess, and his convincing, personal interpretations. The Washington Post called Paley's 1991 debut with the National Symphony a "flawless performance." He has continued to earn similar accolades as an active recitalist and soloist with major orchestras throughout eastern and western Europe and North and South America.

Born in Kishiniev, Moldova, Paley began playing the piano when he was six, gave his first recital at the age of thirteen, and at sixteen won the National Music Competition of Moldova. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and won major awards, including First Prize at the Leipzig International Bach Competition in 1984, the Bsendorfer Prize in 1986, and the Grand Prix at the First International Pancho Vladigerov Competition in Bulgaria.

As a chamber musician, Paley has partnered with eminent artists such as the late Mstislav Rostropovich and ensembles including the Vermeer, Ysaye, and the Fine Arts string quartets. Paley lives in Paris and New York City. His festival at the Moulin d'And in Normandy, France marked its 20th anniversary in 2011. He also has a yearly festival in Richmond, Virginia.
