"Somebody ought to Testify"

Do You Have all Your Weapons?

"They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony", Revelation 12:11

This scripture is talking about three things:

The saints

, their enemy (Satan) and two powerful weapons of spiritual destruction (blood of the lamb and believers' testimony).

The "they" who overcame refers to the believers;

who despite the trials and tribulations they went through, stood their ground and used their weapons to overcome and destroy the power, will and evil strategies of Satan, so they could not be destroyed by him.

The "him" is referring to Satan;

who was cast down from heaven and came down on earth full of hate, anger and determination to oppose God and to destroy the people of God as we see in the following Scriptures:

"How art thou fallen from heaven, Oh Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!" Isaiah 14:12,

"He comes to steal, kill and destroy" John 10:10.

The mission of the devil is to defeat believers.

  • He will do anything he can to achieve that goal. He hates the abundant life Christ has given us.
  • He is terrified by the weapons we have been given to use against him, if we use them correctly.
  • He schemes day and night to tear us apart.
  • He threatens with fearful words. He yells at times.
  • He intimidates with fear.
  • He inflicts pain and hoping that we will surrender and turn away from our God.

Left unchecked and uncomforted, Satan will do havoc in your life and will live you lead a miserable life, with the possibility of missing heaven. That is where he does not want the Christians to go to.

How then can Christians confront this enemy of their soul and prosperity?

  • What weapons can we use against him to defeat him?

There are many things we can do and many weapons we can use, but there are some of the weapons of spiritual destruction he cannot resist: the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Today, I want to emphasize the importance of "testimony" as a weapon in the hands of a Christian, for overcoming any satanic attacks on your life and God ordained destiny.

Your testimony is powerful.

One, because its personal; it is an experience and it is a conviction and confession of what you know, believe and of what God has done in the past and can do again.

The word testimony simply means confession.

Saying what is or what you believe or know. The war between the devil and believers is mostly verbal. There is a lot of exchange of words. The strategy of the devil has not changed from Christ's time. In the wilderness of temptation, he confronted Jesus with words (distorted quotation of scripture) hoping that he would destroy him. But, Jesus won by using a more powerful and truthful testimony of God's word.

  • He said, each time, "It is written" and quoted the truth.
  • Satan was defeated by Christ's testimony.
  • He cannot stand the Bible truth.
  • You too can defeat the devil by your testimony.

When faced with a challenge, problem, pain, discouragement, confusion, temptation or trials and you feel threatened and overwhelmed, pull out your testimony.

Remind yourself of the victories of the past God had given you.

Remember how, for example,

  • you got healed once;
  • how you were encouraged once when you were terribly discouraged;
  • how you got the job or marriage you have;
  • how some of your prayers had been answered;
  • how God has been good to you in the past.
  • The doors of prosperity and advancement he has opened for you.
  • The victories he has given you over big and small challenges.
  • Talk about these things in the face of a challenge.

It could be bad marriage, health problem, worries and anxiety, discouragement or depression. Or, it may be recurring failure or loss of joy, opportunity, property or relationship. Whatever the case or situation may be, give a powerful testimony of yesterday and a powerful confession that "God who did it then, He will do it again".

Don't be intimidated by the threats of the devil.

His words are powerful, yes, but your testimony is more powerful, and will overcome anything he tries to fashion against you.

You can destroy him by the blood of the lamb and your testimony.

Start to verbalize more of what God has done.

Tell every circumstance in your life that God is great and is able and that you cannot be defeated by anything.

That is exactly what David did when he faced the giant, Goliath.1 Samuel 17 : 17- 58

He was small but he did not let Goliath intimidate him and insult the Lord God of Israel.

He remembered the victories God had given him in the past and from that remembering, he gained courage, strengthened himself against Goliath and went after him, knocked him down, cut off his head and brought his head to temple of God as a testimony and confirmation that he had overcome him by his testimony and the help of the Almighty God.

You too can be-head and hang the heads of all giants in your life on the walls of your heart and mind, as a testimony of your victory, won by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.

Arise and testify!

Overcome and testify again!

Victory is yours! Amen!
