We Lack Nothing-Part 1
A. Luke 22:35-Did You Lack Anything?
1. GW: "Then Jesus said to them, 'When I sent you out without a wallet, traveling bag, or sandals, you didn't lack anything, did you?' 'Not a thing!' they answered."
2. Lack (GK) = fall short, come behind, be destitute, be deficient
3. When we believe God and stand on His Word, we will not fall short, come behind, be destitute or be deficient in anything?
B. 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12-That You May Have Lack of Nothing
1. "Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that you may have lack of nothing."
2. AMP: "Make it your ambition and definitely endeavor to live quietly and peacefully, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you, so that you may bear yourselves becomingly and be correct and honorable and command the respect of the outside world, being dependent on nobody [self-supporting] and having need of nothing."
3. GNB: "In this way you will win the respect of those who are not believers and you
will not have to depend on anyone for what you need."
C. James 1:2-6-Perfect and Entire, Wanting Nothing
1. "Count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be
perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering."
2. Various "wanting nothing" translations
a. ASV: Lacking in nothing
b. BBE: Needing nothing
c. CEV: Not lacking in anything
d. DRB: Failing in nothing
e. GW: You won't need anything
f. MSG: Not deficient in any way
3. If any of you lacks provision, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally
We Lack Nothing-Part 2
A. Luke 22:35-Do You Lack Any Good thing?
1. CEV: "Jesus asked his disciples, 'When I sent you out without a moneybag or a Traveling bag or sandals, did you need anything?' 'No!' they answered."
2. The disciples grew in their revelation of God's provision
3. Verse 36 (AMP): "But now let him who has a purse take it, and also [his provision] bag; and let him that has no sword sell his mantle and buy a sword."
B. Jeremiah 23:4-Neither Shall They be Lacking
1. "I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking."
2. It is the responsibility of the ministers to teach their congregations the laws that govern supernatural abundance and provision in these economic times so that their congregations do not lack anything!
3. Luke 4:18: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor."
a. The poor don't have to be poor anymore
b. They don't have to lack anything
C. 2 Corinthians 9:8-Furnished in Abundance
1. AMP: "God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]."
a. KJV: Having all sufficiency
b. BBE: Having enough of all things
c. RSV: You may always have enough of everything
2. Psalm 34:9-10: "Fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord [AMP- on the authority of His Word] shall not want any good thing."
3. Psalm 37:25: "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
4. Psalm 84:11: "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly."
5. James 1:17 (AMP): "Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light."
