LITP2016 Schedule
Laughter in the Park 2015 is made possible in part with public funds from the Fund for Creative Communities, supported by New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Both funds are administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

HELEN ROSENTHAL, NYC Councilmember
Councilmember Helen Rosenthal makes her comedic debut and cuts the First "Closing"Joke Ribbon of 2016 to conclude our 10th anniversary series!


The Honorable Helen Rosenthal is a New York City Council Member representing Manhattan's Upper West Side, District 6. Elected to the City Council in 2013, Helen's vote total in the general election was the highest of any candidate running for City Council in New York City.  She is a leading voice on issues of pedestrian safety, affordable housing, the environment, and job creation.   
 






vlad caamano
Vlad Caamano was named a "2016 Comic to Watch" by Variety.  He is an NBC Standup for Diversity Finalist and has been featured on "Gotham Comedy Live" on AXS.TV and NUVO TV's "Standup and Deliver." When he isn't touring nationally, Vlad is a regular in the New York scene performing at The Stand, Gotham Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, and the Comic Strip Live. He is also a Diversity Scholarship Winner at The People's Improv Theater. Most recently, NBC ordered a yet-to-be-named pilot starring Vladamir.

Saurin Choksin recently appeared on Fuse TV as the host of White Guy Talk Show--a nightly pop culture comedy show. In 2014 his stand upomedy took first place at the prestigious Boston Comedy Festival. Saurin has performed at top comedy venues across the country, including Caroline's in New York, The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, and The Comedy Attic in Bloomington, IN.

Mark DeMayo has been featured on Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and Laffapalooza, Showtime's White Boyz In The Hood, SI TV's Latino Laughter and the film, "Stand Up 360." He has also made guest starring appearances on on CBS' DellaVentura and Central Park West and Fox's The Jury, and can be found giving celebrity commentary on MTV and Spike TV. His solo show "20 & Out", about his career as a NYC Police Officer, won rave reviews at the International Fringe Festival.


vanessa hollingshead
Vanessa Hollingshead is a national headliner and veteran of the New York comedy scene. She has appeared on VH1's Lords of the Revolution, Comedy Central Presents, and her stand up DVDs, American Anglomaniac and Drunk. Vanessa has performed for Comedy Central in Australia, as well as numerous shows in the UK and Amsterdam. She has also received critical acclaim for her one woman shows, Flashback and The Hold.  When she's not busy performing across the world, Vanessa often runs comedy workshops for aspiring comedians.

ERIC L. ADAMS, Brooklyn Borough President
Eric L. Adams is no stranger to Brooklyn. Born in Brownsville, Eric spent three decades serving the community as a police officer, state senator, and coalition builder before being elected to Brooklyn Borough President in 2013. Eric previously represented the 20th Senate District - which includes Borough Park, Flatbush, Crown Heights, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Sunset Park, and Windsor Terrace - working tirelessly to address a broad range of issues, from civil rights and public safety to transparency in government and quality of life. Throughout his legislative career, Eric championed community and economic development in his district and borough-wide. Eric has also served on the board of the Eastern District Counseling Service, an organization assisting former substance abusers to live productive lives without dependency on drugs or alcohol.
 


anthony devito
Originally from New Jersey, Anthony DeVito is a NYC based comedian. He's appeared on Comedy Central's Adam Devine's House Party, was one of the "New Faces" at the 2012 Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, has been on "This American Life," AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live, Seeso's NY's Funniest and was the 2015 winner of Caroline's March Madness. He's also performed at the 2014 Boston Comedy Festival, 2014 Laugh Your Asheville Off, 2014 Limestone Comedy Fest, 2013 Bridgetown Comedy Festival and 2013 SF Sketchfest. In addition to stand-up, he's appeared on TV Land's The Jim Gaffigan Show, is a regular on Fox News Channel's Red Eye, has been a featured guest  Sirius XM's Bennington, has been published in Timeout NY and The New York Times.

Jon Fisch's TV credits include appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman, Last Comic Standing (where he was the New York City Capital One Audience Favorite), Comedy Central's Premium Blend, and 3 Men and a Chick Flick on the WE Network where he served as a host. Jon has performed at multiple festivals including the prestigious Montreal "Just for Laughs" Festival where his performances earned him recognition as a "stand out performer" by the Hollywood Reporter and the Montreal Gazette. Most recently, he was invited to perform at this year's TBS "Just For Laughs" Comedy Festival in Chicago.When he's not performing across the country, Jon is a favorite at several iconic New York City venues such as Gotham Comedy Club, the Comedy Cellar, and the World Famous Comic Strip Live.


zainab johnson
After appearing as a series regular on BET's Hell Date, Zainab began studying improvisational comedy with the Groundlings and IO West. Since then she has performed stand up across the country at prestigious venues such as the Improv, Laugh Factory, Standup NY, and Caroline's on Broadway. Zainab is a Last Comic Standing semi-finalist and has performed at the 2014 BET Experience at LA Live and the world famous "Just For Laughs" Festival in Montreal. She has also appeared on Comic View, the Arsenio Hall Show, and Gotham Live.


cipha sounds
Cipha Sounds is an internationally-touring DJ, comedian, and improviser. In addition to having hosted HOT 97's morning show, Cipha has toured with Lil Kim, Mos Def, and Jay-Z; has earned opening slots at legendary NYC nightspots like the Tunnel and the Palladium; and performs in his own hilarious  comedy shows, "Double Stuf Comedy" and "Take It Personal" at The Stand and UCB, respectively. To top it all off, Cipha has become the first comedian to sign with ROCNATION. His new comedy series, "No Small Talk" is available on TIDAL.

Rodney Laney has been featured in Chris Tucker's Comedy Club in Atlanta, during the Urban Comedy Festival "Laffapalooza" and Judy Carter's comedy showcase in Big Bear, California. He has also appeared on P.Diddy's Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO, Gotham Comedy Live, The Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Comedy Central's Premium Blend. He frequently performs at NYC landmarks like Gotham Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club, Caroline's, and Dangerfield's.

Carmen Lynch has appeared on Conan, The Late Show with David Letterman, HBO Canada's Funny As Hell, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Inside Amy Schumer, and Last Comic Standing (on which she was a semi-finalist twice).
 
nimesh patel
Nimesh Patel has written for the 2015 Oscars hosted by Chris Rock.  He was a 2013 finalist in Comedy Central's "Up Next" CC: Certified Talent Search" where stand-up comedians from across the country performed at the New York Comedy Festival's 4th Annual "Comics to Watch" showcase at Caroline's on Broadway.   Comedy Central identified Nimesh as being one of nine new emerging stand-up talent in the country to compete. 


moody mccarthy
Moody McCarthy many TV appearances include Conan, The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, America's Got Talent, Last Comic Standing, and Gotham Comedy Live. He regularly performs at several well-known comedy venues, such as Dangerfield's, Gotham Comedy Club, and Comic Strip Live. Moody has shared the bill with comedy icons Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock, and has traveled the world performing stand up across three continents.

JAMES "JIMMY" MCMILLAN III
James "Jimmy" McMillan III is an American political activist, perennial candidate, and Vietnam War veteran from Brooklyn, New York. He is best known as the founder of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party, a New York-based political party. Jimmy has repeatedly run for office since 1993, most notably in the 2010 gubernatorial election, which became the subject of a feature-length documentary titledDAMN!. His political activism has also inspired his own doll, music video, and sketch on Saturday Night Live.

Tim Dillon has been featured in the New York Comedy Festival, has performed on AXS.TV's "Gotham Comedy Live," and placed as a finalist on Season 9 of Last Comic Standing. He is a recurring guest panelist on Red Eye w/ Tom Shillue and recently appeared on The Chris Gethard Show on Fusion. Tim performs regularly in some of New York City's top comedy clubs.

One of Comedy Central's "Comics to Watch," Harrison Greenbaum has won several awards for his comedy, including the Andy Kaufman Award (2010) for creativity and originality in comedy. He has been featured on NBC's Last Comic Standing, AXS.TV's Gotham Comedy Live and National Geographic Channel's Brain Games, and was a regular panelist on CurrentTV's Viewpoint. Harrison also headlines comedy clubs around the country, including sold-out shows at TBS Just for Laughs Chicago and the legendary Carolines on Broadway (leading Punchline Magazine to name Harrison one of the "Breakout Artists" of the year).

Erin Jackson was a semifinalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing, and co-hosted three seasons of Exhale, a candid talk series on "Magic" Johnson's ASPiRE network. Erin can be seen nightly in many of New York City's top comedy clubs, and has performed stand-up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, OWN's Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious, Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, AXS.TV's Gotham Comedy Live and TV Guide Network's Standup in Stilettos.
 
gary vider
In the history of NBC's hit show, America's Got Talent, only four stand-up comics have made it to the final ten. Gary Vider is one of them. Gary has performed all over the country in comedy festivals such as Bridgetown and Laughing Skull, and has been featured on TV shows like Conan, AXS.TV's Gotham Live, and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. In 2014, Gary placed 1st in the Carolines on Broadway March Madness Competition where he beat out 63 of NYC's top comedians.
