People of Bookcase 3
PEOPLE OF THE BOOKCASE: A MONTHLY SERIES WITH STUDENT RABBI MICHAEL SHEFRIN

We are often called the People of the Book, but with so many Jewish texts it seems that "the People of the Bookcase" may be more accurate. Learn the basics of four of the most important Jewish texts through readings and discussions. It's a doorway to a richer and more meaningful Jewish life.

"Before this class, for some reason, I was scared of Talmud. After this class
I had some basic knowledge of what the Talmud is, why it matters to modern Jews, and even studied some of it! It felt really good to be a part of the ongoing Jewish conversation of laws, beliefs, rituals and narrative. I didn't think Talmud would be fun, but it was."
- A member's observation on the second class in this series.

Join Student Rabbi Michael Shefrin for a energetic, interactive, humorous, fun and informal discussion of the Talmud. The Talmud with its many laws has challenged Jews throughout time. Do you know that the Talmud challenges itself? For those who love to debate, the Talmud is a veritable party.

Together, we'll dare to dive into the argument and look at the many perspectives of Jewish Law. You'll walk out of this class with a smile on your face and more facts than you'll know what to do with.

Dec. 15, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Today's Most Important Jewish Poets
