Once again, Kol Ami has come together and proven, in the words of Glenn Rosenblum, "we are not your parents' synagogue." Our Supreme Evening Gala immediately took off with a bang as Mary Wilson ascended the stage in her to-die-for gold sequin heels. She proceeded to sing six of her greatest hits and invite some of our members to sing on stage with her! Karen Siteman got to sing a lyric into Mary's microphone, Steve Karbelnig had his name ad-libbed into a lyric by the former Supreme and Rabbi Eger expertly performed classic Motown background dance moves. It was a moment that will go down in Kol Ami history.

Jeff Seymour accepted his award with a stirring speech about his personal dedication to justice and family. He shared that Kol Ami, for him, served as the pillar of his social justice ideals and emotionally thanked Rabbi Eger for her years of support and friendship, recalling his memory of Rabbi Eger holding hands with his mother, singing to her, as she lay in hospice.

Tobi and Tara shared memories of meeting Rabbi Eger, 21 years ago, when they were both worrying over telling their families that they had fallen in love. Her assurance that all would end happily bolstered their hope and convinced them that Kol Ami was where they belonged. They dedicated the night's award to their family and called on each of us to be Guardians of Justice.

Richard Bernard was the lucky Kol Kash winner and he graciously donated a large amount of his winnings back to the temple. We thank Richard for his generosity and we wish all those who so kindly bought tickets better luck next year!

Thank you to everyone that made the night so special and truly supreme! Enjoy these links to a few video clips of dancing on stage with Mary Wilson and Tobi 's and Tara's speeches.
