Celebrate Shavuot With Six Temples

Stephen S. Wise Temple

15500 Stephen S. Wise Dr., Los Angeles 90077

Saturday, May 23
7:30 PM to 11 PM

Traditionally, Shavuot recognizes the receiving of Torah on Mount Sinai. This year we begin a partnership with five local Reform congregations, their clergy and their congregants. Our area rabbis, cantors and educators will teach in small break-out groups and lead us in the celebration with new rituals and music. Each of our teachers will explore the relevance of the 10 Commandments and the Shavuot ideals in our lives today.

Experience an uplifting sense of community with members of Stephen Wise Temple, University Synagogue, Temple Judea, Leo Baeck Temple, Temple Beth Hillel and Congregation Kol Ami!

Please RSVP to kcopeland@kol-ami.org or call 323-606-0996.

Tobi Rosen and Tara Eisner, who for decades have served our Kol Ami community, are being recognized as this year's Shomer Tzedek "Guardian of Justice" honorees. We couldn't be more proud!

Their beautiful example as a family has touched us all. They are devoted mothers and grandmothers. Their friendship to so many of us has been a source of great comfort and joy.

Their personal dedication to improving our world has led Tara to devote her career to caring for and bettering the lives of hundreds of seniors. Tobi has served on the Kol Ami board for 8 years! Her smiling face and upbeat attitude is well known at our committee meetings, galas, silent auctions and Purim Schpiels. Her hard work has helped make so many of these events successful over the near decade she's given to Kol Ami.

We invite you all to join us in honoring Tara and Tobi at our Supreme Evening Gala!

We launched a new Kol Ami book club that met for the first time last Shabbat, May 9th, at the CoffeeFix in Studio City. Diane Saltzberg, a longtime member and SOVA volunteer, was one of 6 people who joined us and shared these comments:

"We read, Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots, by Jessica Soffer. The title refers to an Iraqi expression meaning that there is always hope for tomorrow. Although not everyone finished the book, we nonetheless had a dynamic discussion.  It's fascinating to realize how other people's life experiences flavor their views of a story. I was so exuberant over our first meeting that I stopped to buy apricots on my way home!  Please join us, even if you haven't read the book. It's a great way to meet new KA members and spend time with old friends."

We hope you'll join us for the next meeting on June 13th! If you have any questions, please email kcopeland@kol-ami.org or call 323-606-0996.

Elections and the Annual Congregational Meeting will be held on:
