Israel holds such a special place in my heart. I could say it holds a unique place, a joyful place, a historical place, a sacred place; Israel is all those things to me and more.
I return to Israel to remember where I've come from and what I've overcome. I return to Israel to connect to our people's past as well as my own past. I return to Israel for the delicious food and the beautiful scenery. But I find myself primarily wanting to return to Israel because someone I love is seeing it for the first time...and that experience is something I don't want to miss.
I love sharing "my Israel." I love taking people to the places no tourist book can tell them about - the small art galleries, the market vendors with the best fresh fruit and the best stories or the hotels with the best smelling shampoos. I love discussing the historical and religious meaning behind landmarks, both old and new. And I love the moment with someone starts to share "their Israel" - for the first time - with me.
Especially after experiencing AIPAC 2015 and hearing the need for a stronger bond between America and the Jewish State, after watching current events - the political tremors and the ever increasing need for pluralism, democracy and religious equality - after being there myself last summer and hearing the sirens, but also hearing the hope expressed by the people I met, I believe it is imperative that we all visit Israel.
I want to share "my Israel" with each of you! Join me this summer, June 19th through June 30th, for an amazing experience you'll never forget. Feel a connection! Join the conversation! Say "yes" (say "yes" again or for the third time) to this trip!
Contact Kelsi at kcopeland@kol-ami.org or 323-606-0996 to reserve your spot today. A deposit of $350 is required by March, 25th, 2015.
