Happy New Year! 2015 is going to be our best year yet!
Celebrate it by joining Rabbi Eger and Kol Ami for an incredible adventure to Israel this summer. We'll take a ten day journey through Israel's most amazing cities from Tel Aviv to Haifa to Jerusalem. We'll stroll along the beaches of Tel Aviv, view the Rubin Art Museum and visit the gay community center Gan Meir!
Hike the Banias and cross over the famous hanging bridge, lunch at the Dead Sea, take a jeep ride into the Golan Heights and taste wines in HaGoshrim. Do it all with Rabbi Eger and some of your closest friends from Kol Ami! Full details are on the website - you'll have the time of your life!
As 2014 comes to a close, we ask you to support this trip to Israel and other new programming in 2015. Now, is a great opportunity to donate because IRA Charitable Rollovers have been extended through the end of today, December 31, 2014.
On Dec. 19, 2014, the President signed the IRA charitable rollover extension into law that allows you to make a tax-free gift to Kol Ami from your IRA for 2014. Donors 70 ½ and older can transfer up to $100,000 of their IRA assets to Kol Ami as well as any qualified public charity without incurring Federal income tax on their required minimum distribution for 2014. Please contact your IRA administrator and/or professional advisor to complete the rollover before the end of the year. For questions, to discuss this issue further, or to assist with transfer arrangements, please contact Sadie Rose-Stern at 323-606-0996.
Together, we are creating a 2015 full of new adventures, strong programming and a proud Kol Ami community. Make your donation to support Kol Ami's work in 2015 now.

Rabbi Sue Levi Elwell will be here on January 9th's Shabbat as a guest speaker. She will be discussing her new book, Chapters of the Heart, Jewish Women Sharing the Torah of Our Lives. From the introduction to Chapters of the Heart -
"We asked a group of Jewish women to tell us the truth about their lives and to do so with a few Jewish words. We, two rabbis who love both Jewish words and talking with other women about the truth of their lives, rounded up some friends who are professionals in the Jewish "word business" - rabbis, scholars, writers, theologians. We asked each woman to open her heart, to delve into her considerable Jewish vocabulary, and to tell us what she found. They, and we, are not beginners; we are almost all over fifty, and many of us a decade or two more. Nevertheless, like everyone else, when it comes to our own lives, we are still trying to figure out how to live with grace. And each of us, in our own way, is still exploring what it all means."
