What a calling! In John 20:21, Jesus said, "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." God has a mission. The Father sent Jesus on mission. Now, Jesus sends us on mission. Our assignment includes our current daily contexts and the nations of the world.

According to Ed Stetzer, "Mission, therefore, is conceived as the total redemptive purpose of God to establish his kingdom, and missionaries are those agents who carry out God's redemptive purposes through the church in a variety of contexts.

"It is important to note here that God has a mission and is on a mission. We find this in the biblical story. God is both sender and sent in Christ. God, the Father, is the source of mission. He sent His Son, who embodies God's mission and accomplishes it. God's mission is then extended and applied through the ministry of the Spirit, for it is the spirit calls, equips, and empowers the people of God. The mission is therefore God's. He sends to accomplish his mission--the redemption of His whole creation. Jesus consistently spoke of Himself as being 'sent' in John's gospel and subsequently commissioned His disciples for this same purpose (John 17:3, 8, 18, 21, 23, 25). As the 'sent' people of God, the church is the instrument of His mission (John 20:21). Missions flows from the mission of God."

May you go today in the grace of the Lord, in the authority of Jesus, and in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit to touch others with the love of Jesus.

What a celebration! In this update, you get a chance to catch up on what our missionaries are doing around the world.

What an opportunity! We can get in on what God is doing by praying, giving, and going as God leads. To God be the glory. Read on...

Daniel DeJesus: Reaching and Mentoring Others with God's Love

Daniel & Marlene DeJesus Daniel and Marlene DeJesus are a precious couple, full of faith and confidence in the Lord Jesus. They live what they say. Daniel effectively and compassionately gives away the love of Christ to those in prison, to ex-offenders who are transitioning to aftercare, and to anyone God brings into his sphere of influence.

One thing about Daniel: you know that he is genuine in his love for God and others. That love is contagious. The Lord has called Daniel to serve full-time in ministering to the hurting, needy, and broken. Marlene serves as a nurse in the Texas Medical Center. Daniel and Marlene would tell you that they are blessed to be a blessing. Both are genuine servants of Christ who freely give away the rich blessings of the Lord. ALL PRAISES TO GOD! Full Story...

Gene & Rene' Haub: FamilyLife

19 - 29 InvitationGene and Rene' Haub work with FamilyLife

to strengthen marriages and families across our nation and around the world. They currently serve as the National Director for U.S. Field Staff.

These are serious times for the family. Our society is unraveling, with families under attack now more than ever. Each one of us has been impacted in some way by the breakdown in the family, and our culture is exerting increased pressure on marriages and families every day. The following are a small sample of the reality in homes today...

  • The increasingly popular online matchmaking website, Ashley Madison, is targeting married individuals with their motto "Life is Short. Have an Affair." Millions of people have signed up in the last two years.
  • Nearly half of all teens and nearly two-thirds of young adults admit having received sexually suggestive text messages. And only one in four thinks it's a big deal.
  • The impact of the divorce generation is now being seen in its children. Our nation's marriage rate is the lowest in more than a century, while cohabitation is at an all-time high and skyrocketing.

At FamilyLife, we continue to be gripped with the urgency of the ministry that God has called us to. In Christ there is hope for every family!

Pam Holecheck has moved back to the United States after living in Germany for 11 years. While based in the U.S., Pam will continue ministering through short-term trips.

Crisis Relief/Response Training is also on her heart. As we know, our world is experiencing more frequent crises which often open the doors for Christians to come in and minister spiritually as they meet needs in other practical ways. Pam is gifted in ministering Christ through intercession, healing prayers, personal ministry, teaching, mentoring and building relationships wherever she goes.

Living in the U.S. and ministering through short-term trips and assignments has allowed Pam greater flexibility to be with her family.

Joshua & Mandy Rushing: Intercessory Missionaries

Joshua and Mandy 19 - 29 Invitation serve as intercessory missionaries in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

When the Rushings first moved to Arkansas in 2007, they worked for Antioch Church (local church) and IHOP-Siloam Springs (House of Prayer). As of January 2010, they have since "married" the two ministries to become one. This new ministry is called The Pointe.

The Pointe is a threefold model of ministry whose vision is a union of the two great commandments Jesus revealed in Mark 12:30-32, and the vision of the church at Antioch found in Acts 11 and 13. Read on

Have you thought lately about the scope of what God has called us to be a part of? Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:18-20). Let that sink in.

Every nation rightfully belongs to Jesus. Every ethnic group needs to know who Jesus is and what he has done. It's all about God's name and fame spreading throughout the earth.

Although you and I can't be in every nation, (1) we can serve God faithfully in our spheres of influence-- right here, right now. And, (2) we can partner with others intentionally so that the gospel of the kingdom reaches beyond us to the nations.

Let's pray, give, and go with Jesus into the world.
