We received so many entries and lovely holiday photos, making it very hard to select a winner. However, Jacqueline's beautiful photo (below) from her home swap in Germany was chosen as the winner of the Kindle Fire photo competition.

"One of the best things about doing a home exchange (aside from it being a really affordable and convenient way to have a holiday when you have children!) is exploring an area that you would not have considered going on holiday to. We'd never heard of Trier, Germany and neither had our friends when we'd mentioned our trip. However, we were blown away by the beauty of the region - lake Mosel, the ubiquitous vineyards surrounding us and the ancient Roman buildings in Trier. Although our exchange was for two weeks, we went home with lots of things left on our sightseeing to-do-list for a future trip to Rhineland-Pfalz. Our hosts were helpful and welcoming; we felt so lucky in their gorgeous apartment. Our boys loved playing with the Lego their teenage son used to play with and we found the highchair they'd borrowed from a friend made things so much easier for our 18 month old. The bottle of wine they left us from their local region was a wonderful thank-you. We can't wait for our next house swapping adventure!"  Jacqueline (Brighton, UK)

Home swap Q&A: can I list my holiday home?
Adding a second home
Q: I have a holiday home in the UK and a house in Italy. I've had a look at your website and like what I see. Can I register my holiday home for exchange or does it need to be my main residence?- Kim, Rome, Italy 

A: Absolutely! You can add either your main home, holiday home or both. When you join Guardian Home Exchange you can select the "Second home" tick box to indicate that you are listing a second home. As listing a second home can often give more flexibility with your exchange dates, many second home owners are also able to consider non-simultaneous exchanges (i.e. swapping at different times). 

Note: as a full member you can add a second home at no extra charge.
