30 year anniversary - providing a home swap service
Home Base Holidays: 1985 - 2015In 1985 when Home Base Holidays started we published directories three times a year and mailed them to our members. Members would then contact each other by physically posting their information and photos. As you can imagine... this could be a slow process! However Home Base Holidays was an early Internet adopter. This made a huge difference, enabling members to view new offers being added to the website each day and make instant contact to arrange their home swaps

Over the next few months, we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary with competitions, special offers and new features on the website. Watch out for Home Swappers each month and do join in and help us celebrate.

We are always so thankful to all our members and are delighted that many of the members that joined when we first started are still members to this day. If you were a Home Base Holidays member back in the days of print directories, we'd love to hear how your experiences have changed or not over the many years you have been home swapping. Send your experiences to: info@homebase-hols.com

Home swap tip - how to treat a home exchange home
Home Swap TipsHome Base Holidays member and experienced home swapper, Sandra Newnham, has written an excellent tip on how best to take good care of homes entrusted to you:

"A popular promise on house swap entries is: 'We'll look after your home as if it were our own.' What does that actually mean? I'd suggest that you look after everything in your house swap home as you would your own when things are new. However new or old the carpets may look, treat them as you did your own when they were newly laid. When relaxing on the sofa, imagine that it's just been delivered. And remember how careful you were when you'd just finished decorating? It's really not difficult I promise you and doesn't detract from your enjoyment at all." Swap report - a wonderful English summer
Home Base Holidays English Cottage "Our entire family really enjoyed our stay in Hampshire at Upper Wield this summer. The cottage is cosy and so typically English, and Su and Rich made us feel welcome there. There were many possible day trips in the area, from towns like Winchester, to gardens and national trust homes, country walks, the steam train in Alresford and of course Jane Austen's home in Chawton. The children enjoyed sharing toys, and the trampoline in the garden (with the view of the flowery pond) was a hit! Thank you again for a wonderful exchange and summer memories."  (Caroline, Saint Claude, France)
