Beat the Heat: How to Stay Hydrated

"How much water should you drink?" is a loaded question. "Eight servings of eight ounces a day" doesn't take into account factors such as humidity, temperature, elevation, how much you sweat, or activity intensity and duration.

Effective Treatments for Incontinence

Incontinence affects millions of people at one time or another. Childbirth and menopause sometimes lead to urinary and fecal incontinence in women, and men sometimes suffer from these conditions, too. When an adult loses control of their bladder or bowel functions, it damages self-confidence and independence. A simple day is not so simple anymore. There are many possible causes, and an equal number of simple and effective treatment options.

Provider Spotlight

Richmond, VA 23219
Phone: 804-298-3460

Sarah Meyers attended Virginia Tech and earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise. She attended James Madison University for her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. She worked in primary care for over 6 years before joining Bon Secours in 2015. Her interests include health, wellness, and preventative medicine. Mrs. Meyers is board certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Medicine.

What do you enjoy most about being a primary care provider?
I love my long-term relationships with patients. I feel so lucky to be an ongoing part of my patients' lives. Patients often come in to see their PCP at a pivotal time in their lives: college physicals, new jobs, new babies. I get to cheer patients on through episodes of grief, tough diagnoses, and major lifestyle changes.

Why did you choose Bon Secours Health System?

My husband stays home with our children, and I'm the breadwinner, so having a job with good benefits was important for my family. Bon Secours is very supportive of their employees' health, and that is what initially attracted me to this group. However, I have been so pleased with the high quality EMR, the transparency in the budget, and the organization of the whole health system.

What do you enjoy outside of work?
My children are young, so right now we spend our evenings puttering around in the garden, waging epic Candyland battles, and doing baking soda science experiments. I'm living the life!
