Mayor Harry LaRosiliere makes the first donation to the Plano firefighters' MDA Fill the Boot campaign. Logan Elder helped kick things off and inspired the firefighters.
Fill the Boot
for MDA
Meet Logan Elder, a 12-year-old living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is one of the reasons Plano firefighters are supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) with their annual Fill-the-Boot campaign. Firefighters will be at Plano intersections collecting donations through Saturday, May 7 during morning rush hour and evening rush hour. The funds raised will help kids like Logan be able to attend the MDA's summer camp. Funds also help with research development for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other related life- threatening diseases that take away people's ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.

Last year, with the help of passing patrons, firefighters collected $88,000 surpassing Mayor Harry LaRosiliere's challenge by $8,000. Local MDA-funded clinics that are supported by these funds are Children's Medical, Texas Neurology and UT Southwestern in Dallas. They also make MDA summer camp possible so kids, like Logan with muscle disease can enjoy "the best week of the year" at Camp John Marc in Meridian, TX and nearly 80 other locations nationwide. Help our firefighters meet their 2016 goal of $100,000 by either donating at an intersection or donating online. If they succeed, the Mayor, City Council members and the Fire Chief will wash a fire engine.
Taste Downtown Plano
at Night Out on 15th Street
Hit the street for an evening of fine dining in Downtown Plano on Sunday, May 22. Night Out on 15th Street features a 300-foot community table. It's the second year for arts district chefs to serve a 5-course meal paired with select beer, wine and spirits under the stars. While you dine from 5:30 to 10 p.m., make new friends and enjoy live entertainment from Plano artists. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit local non-profit organizations.

This year's participating restaurants are Angela's at the Crosswalk, Amazeballz, The Fillmore Pub, Lockhart Smokehouse Plano, Urban Rio, Urban Crust, Uni Sushi and ZaLat - Downtown Plano. Pre-sale tickets are $125 each until May 13. After May 13, tickets will be $150 each. Purchase tickets online.
