GREEN ... Not Just for Earth Day!
Welcome three businesses to the City's Green Business Certification Program: Aqua-fit Family Wellness Center, Elan Market Center and The Grove School. These businesses have committed to being green daily--not just in celebration of Earth Day. To learn about eligibility guidelines, criteria for certification and green initiatives, visit planocommercialrecycling.com. The City currently offers certification for small- to medium-sized office/retail businesses, grocery stores, restaurants and multi-family communities. Please congratulate and support these businesses.

Aqua-Fit Family Wellness Center

Mimi Conner, Owner

Aqua-Fit Family Wellness Center offers swim lessons for infants, children, those with special needs and adults as well as water fitness programs for all skill levels. Owner Mimi Conner is known as Plano's "swim whisperer." She designs classes which reflect her love for well-being and Aqua-Fit's operations reflect her love for our environment. Aqua-Fit's green initiatives include use of a solar cover for the indoor salt-water pool which generates a 40 percent energy savings in pool heating, while a dual-filter pool heater and multi-speed pump also assist in energy efficiency.

Elan Market Center

Select a one- to three-bedroom apartment home in this luxury resort-style, multi-family community called Elan Market Center. Elan Market features all Energy Star appliances and designer amenities with distinctive finishes. Its green initiatives include energy-efficient triple-paned windows and solar film in its administrative area and relaxing outdoor green areas.  "Elan Market Center places you in the heart of Plano and in the lap of luxury" is the community's tagline. Who knew the lap of luxury could be so green?

The school is committed to instill a love of learning in students and to nourish the mind, body and planet. Children work and play in an environmentally-conscious environment that encompasses their green initiatives which include natural lighting, bamboo flooring, a recycled rubber outdoor play-area and an on-site garden and composting. Parents comply with a 'no-idling' policy while waiting in cars to drop off or pick up their children.
