Editor's note: Dr. Graman's departure was announced two weeks ago and his last day at PeaceHealth will be Friday, June 12. This is his final message in the Weekly.
As I suspect may be true for many of you, I was originally drawn to consider working at PeaceHealth by its mission and values. However, the final decision to accept the position came as a result of the people I met during the interview process.
There was something about the friendliness and openness that I found particularly compelling. My initial impression has proven to be accurate. The relationships I have developed with our leadership team, our providers and our caregivers have allowed me to grow as a person and as a leader. For that opportunity, I am extremely grateful.
We have accomplished much as a medical group in these past four years for which we can feel proud.
We have formed a single group serving many communities with defined standards of performance both clinically and operationally.
We have made considerable progress in achieving our goals in many areas.
We have grown the size of the group and expanded our aggregate panel size, allowing us to serve a larger population and improve access for those who seek our services.
And, as a result of our coordinated efforts, we have measurably improved the quality of care we provide to our patients. As one example, our improved care for diabetes and hypertension will result in fewer complications from these two serious chronic conditions for hundreds of those we serve.
Creating our medical homes, launching our new electronic medical record, creating specialty collaboratives, and the list goes on.
All of these accomplishments, and many more too numerous to mention, have only been possible due to the passion and dedication of each one of you who have contributed in your own way to our progress.
I have no doubt that the momentum of PHMG's early evolution will carry it forward to even greater success in the coming years.
Thank you for your patience, your flexibility, your hard work under challenging circumstances, and your willingness to accept change. Most of all, thank you for the commitment you demonstrate to our mission and our patients every day -- I know they share in my gratitude for your work.
