There are 152 days until the ICD-10 transition. ICD-10 becomes the required coding set on Oct.1, just five months from now. After that, bills that PeaceHealth submits to CMS and insurance companies will be attached to ICD-10 codes. (See the top 10 reasons for this change.)Yes, CareConnect ambulatory already is compliant with ICD-10. PHMG providers who work with CareConnect have the advantage of already being familiar with ICD-10 terms.
When doing your documentation within CareConnect, there are several features to assist you in making sure that the diagnoses you choose meet ICD-10 criteria. This 10-minute Epic tutorial reviews ICD-10 within CareConnect. The 'previous' button can be a valuable time-saver in choosing an accurate ICD-10 term. Lorne Bigley, MD, has produced a
video to demonstrate this.How to best learn what is new and what is not? There are teaching modules available through Crossroads at the My Learning site. ( Click here for instructions on how to navigate to the right part of the site.)
- You must complete two modules. PHMG leadership is requiring that every provider completes two modules. There are 76 to choose from and you may do the ones that you feel are most relevant to your practice.
- Because there are other significant and parallel projects within PeaceHealth this upcoming summer, the deadline for completing the modules is July 1st.
