Dr. Howard Graman
Happy Halloween.

With the "scary" Halloween vibe in the air this week, I can't help but think about Ebola. It has become such a huge issue for our country, and especially for those of us in health care, that it needs to be addressed in a calm and confident manner. I believe we are doing just that at PeaceHealth. Our PHMG leadership team is working in close collaboration with the leaders from other parts of our system to come up with CDC-compliant approaches to safe care in all of our settings.

Many of you have attended -- or will soon attend -- Lync sessions aimed specifically at addressing the documentation aspects of screening and, if needed, care of Ebola patients in our offices. Videos from this week's Lync sessions are now available online.

As expected, these sessions have been generating a list of very practical questions from our caregivers about how to respond to a wide variety of "what if" scenarios. Our team is collecting and collating these questions and will be providing responses, as well as a venue for an ongoing conversation that can be used as a reference point going forward. If our approach is not meeting your needs, I ask that you contact Dr. Robin Virgin, who is taking the lead for PHMG in this effort.

In this situation, as always, our goal is to carry on our mission by providing the appropriate care to those we serve while keeping our caregivers safe from harm.

So, this Halloween, be scary ... and be safe.
