Q&A
Question: Does AVS only need to be given to patients 10 percent of the time?

Answer: No. To meet Meaningful Use metrics, the After Visit Summary must be printed or provided electronically to patients within three days of being seen for at least 50 percent of visits. (Patients with PtConnection accounts will automatically receive a copy of the AVS so there is no need to print it.)

It's important to understand that the AVS is more than just something to be done to meet a regulatory requirement. Decades of research and best practice experiences of many organizations have shown the AVS significantly improves a patient's understanding of their medical problems and what they need to do to care for themselves. ...
PatientConnection
Activations update
Our PatientConnection Contest continues through the end of June with the goal of 50,000 patient activations. As of June 12, there are 34,115 total activations.
Dr. Howard Graman
PHMG continues on its path to become a high-performing, physician-led medical group. While our Medical Group Leadership Team undergoes changes, this commitment remains steadfast.

I want to review some recent transitions:

1. Now that our Epic Ambulatory rollout is largely complete, Michael Geist, MD has transitioned from Epic Physician Champion to take the formal role of Medical Director of Clinical Informatics for PHMG. As such, he joins MGLT as a voting member.

2. We have been searching for a Medical Director of Specialty Care these past few months. I'm pleased Scott Foster, MD has accepted this position and joins PHMG at the end of June. His proven leadership and experience at Providence Health & Services and with Providence Medical Group will be a valuable addition to MGLT and the PHMG Executive Team.

3. Karen Sharpe, MD, accepted a position as Administrative Director of Medical Informatics at Stanford. She steps down as Medical Director of Primary Care in July.

4. Larry Neville, MD, VP for the Columbia Network and CMO for PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center, will leave PHMG at the end of September. He plans to join The Oregon Clinic as a full-time practicing neurologist later this year.

We wish Dr. Sharpe and Dr. Neville success in these new opportunities, and we'll miss their contributions and camaraderie. Looking ahead, we're excited for Dr. Foster's arrival and I'm confident he and Dr. Geist will immediately provide effective leadership and drive to MGLT and PHMG. We'll look to fill the remaining leadership positions once they are open.
