 | Dr. Howard Graman |
During last month's MGLT meeting, Oregon West's dyads relayed the need for an Epic refresher in OWN. These clinics, after all, were the pioneers in bringing Epic to PeaceHealth Medical Group.
I'm pleased to report that PHMG's team responded swiftly to their request.
Epic ambulatory project manager Tina Hoffman, with a team of 12 education and PDI caregivers, quickly developed and deployed a process that is comprehensive, nimble and customizable to the specific clinic's needs. Training, education and reinforcement through individual shadowing take place within each clinic. While some clinics are now receiving this refresher, rollouts and implementation throughout OWN will continue until early September.
During the up to four-week training time for each clinic, the support team identifies how best practices, new tools, documentation and workflows may be implemented to streamline the daily process for providers and caregivers, including front desk staff. Super users are also in place to help sustain the training efforts.
This refresher for Oregon is expected to result in increased efficiencies for providers and clinical caregivers enabling them to complete their work during the day along with increasing patient volumes. Additionally, our goal is to enable MAs to work to the top of their scope.
After training concludes, the effort will continue north to offer similar efficiency support to the Northwest and Columbia Networks.

Thanks to more than 1,680 caregivers from every corner of PeaceHealth for raising nearly $700,000 ... and counting ... in this year's Spirit of Giving caregiver campaign. This year's campaign was PeaceHealth's first invitation to caregivers system-wide to contribute financially to one of our seven foundations. It featured 19 "passion" areas to which caregivers could direct their gifts. What were the most common passions? Where will the gifts go? Continue reading and watch video »
