Over the past several months, providers and leaders have continued to work on action plans to address issues identified in the results of our Provider Engagement Survey. The same may also be said for caregiver engagement overall.
One important thing we've been learning is that the process of responding to the survey results has given providers (and other caregi

vers) opportunities to help find or create solutions to challenges. That shared ownership is at the heart of what we want to foster.
From a groupwide perspective, we have made some headway in several areas, such as:
- clearer articulation of our leadership structure
- better communication with system leader participation in all-provider meetings
- more defined medical group identity with PHMG-specific financials and position control
- improvements in provider recruitment and credentialing
- development of a mentoring program and the launch of the Clinical Leadership Academy
- review of the provider compensation plan with modifications due in 2015
- implementation and stabilization of Epic
- development of clinical quality dashboard
- focused work on improving the referral process for patients and providers
- extension of clinical education and development for medical assistants
Networks and communities have also been implementing plans to improve areas best addressed "closer to home."
Work is ongoing and I hope to spotlight some of the key initiatives under way in the coming weeks, such as innovation in Longview and the recognition program in Oregon West Network.
Later this spring, we expect to field a "pulse" survey, a short version of the survey to gauge where we're at with providers. We also expect to have PHMG-specific results from the caregiver "pulse" survey.
I want to thank all of the PHMG Human Resource partners (
Shana Criscola, Cindy Crossley, Lesa Eusted, Malisa Glaser, Blake Hausmann, Heather Nelson, Pattie Washburn)
, Greta Beard of Organizational Development and
Gay Wayman of Physician Development in Eugene for their tireless support of this effort.
If you have questions about the survey follow-up, please feel free to contact me or your local leadership.
