PeaceHealth Physicians & Providers,
 | Dr. Howard Graman |
PeaceHealth is becoming more active in the telemedicine arena. Under the guidance of the Telemedicine Leadership Council, we are putting a plan in place to better serve our communities with telemedicine services.
This fall, a Telestroke robot is being installed at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center (PHSW) in Vancouver and one has been purchased for use in the Family Birth Center at PeaceHealth St. John in Longview. One has also been acquired for Peace Island in Friday Harbor and a unit will be installed at PeaceHealth Ketchikan General Hospital in Alaska.
The medical group has been privileged to play a role in this work. Thanks to Drs. Sarice Bassin and Duncan Borland and PHMG neurologists in Vancouver for spearheading this effort at PHSW. These new tools will facilitate remote access to specialty care when it would otherwise not be available and, in some cases, will speed up the initiation of potentially lifesaving treatment for conditions such as acute stroke.
You'll hear more about the new services in the coming weeks.

Consider Team Your Practice Advocate
|
When you're caring for patients, despite everyone's best efforts, things sometimes go awry--be it a device failure, an accident or a miscommunication.
If it happens in your practice, first be assured that you're not alone. Second, be sure to notify PeaceHealth Risk Management.
"Even if you just have a gut feeling that something isn't right, we encourage you to notify us so that we can be ready to help if it turns out to be more," says Lori Davis, system claims manager from Risk Management.
Reporting does not affect insurability and by letting the team know early about an event or incident, they can step in quickly to help guide you and diminish any distractions to your practice.
Risk Management has a robust internal website with several resources for reference by providers and staff. If you have questions, you can also contact Lori Davis. Visit Risk Management site
